Les trois bateaux en lice pour la sélection de Rio 2016 étaient à Weymouth et Portland du 29 Juin au 8 Juillet, dans le cadre du processus d’évaluation équipement IFDS 2016 .
A 1 an des Jeux paralympiques de Londres 2012, les yeux sont déjà tournés vers Rio 2016 avec les trois bateaux en lice pour la sélection du quillard en double au Brésil.
Le processus de démonstration a débuté aux championnats du monde IFDS 2011 à Weymouth et Portland .
Les trois bateaux – SKUD 18, Neo495 et Artemis 20 étaient disponibles à flot toute la semaine pour les marins, les entraîneurs, les instructeurs et les responsables IFDS ( International Federation Disabled Sailing) afin de les « tester ».
Le Comité d’évaluation des équipements de l’IFDS a eut également l’occasion d’évaluer les 3 bateaux en lice afin de sélectionner celui qui sera utilisé pendant les Jeux Paralympiques de 2016.
Pas moins de 40 marins et 20 bateaux étaient en compétition aux Championnats du monde IFDS 2011.
Des représentants de chaque classe étaient à WPNSA cette semaine pour permettre à tout un chacun d’essayer ces bateaux afin d’apporter leur avis avant que l’IFDS annonce lequel des 3 quillard sera mis en avant pour être le prochain paralympiques de deux personnes en bateau en Novembre 2012 après Londres 2012 à la demande de l’IPC.

London 2012 may still be a year away but thoughts are already turning to Rio 201 with the three boats under review to be the two-person keelboat equipment in Brazil being demonstrated at the IFDS Worlds at Weymouth and Portland this week.
The three boats – SKUD 18, Neo 495 and Artemis – are available in the boat park throughout the week for sailors, coaches, instructors and IFDS officials to go out and ‘test drive’ after racing finishes.
The IFDS Equipment Evaluation Committee will also be using the opportunity to evaluate the kit in order to select the one that will be used during the 2016 Paralympic Games.
Representatives from each class are at WPNSA this week to enable anyone and everyone to experience what each class has to offer ahead of the IFDS’ decision on which will be put forward to be the next Paralympic two-person boat.
